I Just Can't Decide...
Lately, there have been a million blog posts, fashion editorials, and runaway shows that display socks and heels/sandals. Ever since I was born the number one rule of fashion: never wear socks and sandals. It's the ultimate faux paux in the fashion world. But as we know, the rules of fashion were meant to be broken. I've been on the fence about this style since it became a trend in the middle of last year, and have yet to be daring enough to try it. What about you? Would you try this fashion mishap turned super polished trend? My idol Leighton Meester tried it:
and it looks absolutely ladylike and adorable here:
If only I could find the guts to try this out. Who knows, maybe I'll be sporting it tomorrow!

If Money Were No Object...
THESE SHOES!! OMG. You cannot even combine my love for glitter, things that 4 year old girls like, and high heels more than these shoes do. Seriously? The 5.5inch heels are covered in multicolored and multi-shaped rhinestones. LOVE!!!

If Money Were No Object...
I go to business school, and the saying goes, if you're 10 minutes early, you're on time; if you're on time, you're late; and if you're late, don't bother showing up. In this day and age, most people rely on their cell phones to keep track of time. I am a prisoner of this myself, however I do love wearing a watch. Watches are the most practical accessory to ever exist and can be oh-so-adorable. Unfortunately, I have a flailing problem and promptly break every watch I have ever owned, but that doesn't mean I don't love them and continue to want them. It just means I speak with my arms absentmindedly. This Michael Kors watch is the best shade of bright bubblegum pink and has just the littlest bit of shiny. Success. I like the big, boyfriend watch style, it makes me feel like my arms and wrists are tiny. I definitely want this watch.

I would want these shoes.. 1. Jeffrey Cambell. 2. Platforms=easy to walk in. 3. Leopard print. Need I say more? These shoes would be beautiful with a simple LBD or dark skinny jeans and blazer. Either way, I love them and want them. If I had them I might be able to walk down the Coleman hill (aka steepest deadliest thing ever to exist) and survive. I'd wear them all the time.

If Money Were No Object...
After a long weekend of daddy-daughter bonding (and by bonding I mean gambling via blackjack and Steak'n Shake), I am back and happy to report that if money were no object, I would want the Christian Louboutin Barbie. I am absolutely OBSESSED with Christian Louboutin..and Barbies. So this seems like the obvious choice. The only way this could get better would be if I was actually Babie (although I never would have divorced Ken!)

I would want this coat. This trench is so classy and elegant. The beading and style is class and every girl (particularly this girl) should want a coat as beautiful and perfect as this.

I would want this headband. I love all things pearls and this headband is the epitome of beautiful-ness and class. I adore it. The only thing better would be in it had a bow...

If Money Were No Object...
I would want these shoes. These are Jeffrey Campbell XXL, modeled after Jeffrey Campbell's Clinic shoes, sold out pretty much everywhere. These daring shoes mix different textures (leather, silk, velvet) and fun patterns. The heel is the same as the Clinics with the mirrors attached to the heel, which 1.is freaking cool and 2. gives it the look of a closed stiletto at first glance. I also really the the heel where it dips in to touch the sole in the back. So interesting. I am OBSESSED with all things Jeffrey Campbell, he's so stylish and funky and off the edge. Just like me. But most of all, I love Jeffrey because instead of all these stupid designers that make skyscraper heels (which I adore) with tiny tiny heels (it's hard enough to walk flat footed, now you want me to balance on a toothpick???) Jeffrey makes 99% of his shoes with either a thick, chunky heel or a wedge. Easy Peasy!

I would want this dress. It's the Goldmine dress by Bebe Addiction. I was on Newbury Street this weekend looking for the perfect dress for the boyfriend's fraternity semiformal dance and I found it in this dress. However, Patrick loathes all one sleeve dresses and the I had done too much shopping that day and was $9 short on buying this dress. So back on the rack it went. All my dreams Crushed. *sigh*

I would want these shoes. I like the mix of black and brown. The tie makes me feel secure, not to mention it's a bow, and if you know anything about me, you know I love all things with a bow.

We've been in school?
It's hard to believe that I'm in the middle of week three of my sophomore year. Just last night I was trying to remember how I met someone and three weeks feel sooooo long ago. So much has happened. I feel like I am a completely different person than when I ended my summer. Well, I am kind of a completely different person due to three new holes in my body, style that has made a 180degree turn from preppy to hipster, and 12 hours of volunteer work at the Life Is Good festival. I almost feel like a *shudder* Democrat. Let's start from the beginning.
I have finally embraced the idea of "college" and my new motto is "if I don't do it now, I'll never do it." This is the reason that two Sunday's ago I went into Boston and got my nose pierced as well as getting a second piercing in both ears. Actually, it's quite a long, WTF story, so I'll indulge. Sunday morning started with my two girlfriends, Christy and Chrissy (I know, confusing) wanting to spend a couple hours at the mall so I could get a new straightener (ghd Green Envy 1 inch). So we get dressed and go down to meet the shuttle to take us to the mall. However, it never shows up. It finally shows up 30 minutes late, but instead of going to the mall it's going to the local T station. We decide to just go to Newbury Street for shopping but Chrissy backs out to play field hockey. An hour later Christy and I make it into Boston, first stop Urban Outfitters. After spending an hour and wayyy to much money we go to check out and Christy's card gets declined. Apparently her bank thought her card was stolen because she had just started using it frequently and cancelled it. I swipe for her and decide our next stop will be her bank to get this all straightened out. Unfortunately we walk 1.5miles to the nearest bank before we realize it's Sunday and the banks are closed. At that point we jumped to plan b, getting our ears pierced. We each have one piercing in our ears and had been talking about getting more. We each wanted a second hole in each ear, Christy wanted to get her cartiledge and I've wanted to get my nose pierced for a couple years now. We finally track down a tattoo place that does piercings and get on the T to go there. But, while we're on the T, it breaks down and goes out of commssion and we have to walk the last mile to the place. Everything goes smoothly getting the holes and we get on a T to Chinatown to meet our friend Mike for dinner. At some point during the ride some idiot chick drops something and leans down to pick it up as the T barrels past AND HITS THIS GIRL IN THE HEAD. Now we're delayed even more and over an hour late for dinner. By the time we get to Chinatown and the restaurant it's 8pm so there wasn't a wait at the New Golden Gate but that didn't stop them from seating the 4 Chinese families that came in after us before we got seated. After waiting for 20 minutes we leave even more pissed off and hungry than before. Luckily we get back to Wellesley just fine and decide to pick up some KFC, no harm right? WRONG. Due to some GPS errors it sends up the wrong way up a ramp to the highway and once we get to KFC it's closed for good. Not even a KFC emblem on the door. At this point we decide to just go back to campus, get Dominos delivered and try to make our night better. Which, it did, but the rest is not really blog-appropriate. :)
In the days after that I auditioned for the Fall Play. Moon Over Buffalo, I auditioned for the role of Eileen the young, attractive actress who wants to be a star, sleeps with the boss of the theatre company and is now having his baby. I thought I could do an amazing job at the role but alas, the director thought my roommate/best friend Christy could do a better job (she IS an actual movie star, taking one of the lead roles in the movie Crush(ed)). And in reality, if I couldn't get the part, I'm glad Christy got it, since she's pretty much my duplicate. I am not letting the man get me down since this week I am auditioning for the second fall play, The Shape of Things. *fingers crossed* I'll let you know how it turns out.
This past weekend was full of fun and excitement. Firstly, Friday night my roommate and I decided to cool out and just watch tv with "the boys" we also baked them cupcakes and had a ton of fun decorating them.
Saturday night Christy and I had our first double date (the convience of seeing Christy's boyfriend's best friend!) and we ventured an hour away to Ipswich, MA, home of The Clambox. The Clambox is a family favorite of mine considering they do two things: seafood and deep fried. It's pretty amazing. Having three of your favorite people in the car for a small roadtrip and awesome food is a recipe for a grade A good time. Plus, we got some pretty ah-dorable pictures.
Sunday morning started early since I volunteered at the Life is Good festival in Canton, MA. My friend Sara and I signed up over the summer because we could stay the whole day to see OkGo (my choice) and Jason Mraz (Sara's OBSESSION). After six hours of playing Tug-of-War and my hands being completely torn up and blistered, I took a nap in the most inconvienent spot possible while holding spots for us to see Jason Mraz, I finally woke up and enjoyed the concert.
Monday through Thursday is an absolute blur between attempting to stay awake through boring common sense classes and running from meeting to meeting. At Babson you work hard, you play hard. That’s life.

Easing Back Into College
Today is the day my life begins. Or at least, that's what I told myself this morning when I got up. Today is the first day of classes in my Sophomore year of college. I've been really excited about this year because I feel like I'm starting completely over. I have matured over the past year, I have found my best friend who seems to be running on the same wavelength, I have worked on my tolerance and have been working on the filter between my mouth and my brain. Also, I am single. And not just my typical "single, but searching for a new boy" over the summer I learned how to be comfortable with myself and how to be happy and content alone. Most importantly, I have remembered how fun it is to play with boys. The excitement and fun of someone new WITHOUT the commitment. That's what I want this year. Fun. No commitment. Excitement. That's what my Sophomore year will do for me. And as the Self Proclaimed Party Captain (my official title) I am quite confident that I will be able to achieve that.
And of course it helps that the five classes I'm taking this semester I am genuinely interested in them. The lineup: Business Statistics, Media Studies, Marketing, Microeconomics, and Finance. I know. I am such a business nerd. But I adore it. :] Today I eased back into college and only had one class, Media Studies. In typical first day of class fashion, we went around the room saying our name, where we're from, and our favorite medium of the media. I quickly decided upon txting as my favorite, only to find out that our first assignment is to not use that medium for as long as we can, then write a paper about it. I cracked in hour 3. I'm just not made out for something like that. However, this past weekend I flew home for a wedding and forgot my cell charger and spent Thursday night, Friday, and most of Saturday without a charger until I finally bullied my father into taking me to get one. So I think most of my paper will draw from that traumatizing experience.
Since I flew home for a wedding Thursday night and the Freshmen arrived Friday morning I did unfortunately miss Orientation Weekend aka best parties all year. And to make matters worse, Monday morning the naive women from Campus Life had facilities empty all the Greek Row garbage out and were shocked with the amount of red Solo cups, Natty Ice cans, and handles in the garbage. DUH! IT'S ORIENTATION WEEKEND! Seriously? These women need to grow up and figure out that it's the biggest party week all year at EVERY SCHOOL! So Monday afternoon there was an emergency meeting and now there are to be no Greek parties until further notice. Epic Fail. So everyone has been forced out of the typical frat parties and must get more creative with their partying. But, college students party. They were parting 50 years ago and 100 years ago just the same as we party now. And I still can't understand why they're so shocked.
Happy first day of classes!!

Grab Your Bag!
The morning of July 4th I was lounging in bed watching Desperate Housewives when my phone buzzed with an email. It was from one of my favorite stores, ModCloth.com. I found ModCloth the same way I look for future husbands *hehe*. On Inc.com Top 30 under 30, that is Top 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30. Last year Susan and Eric Koger made the list for combining Susan’s love for thrift stores and vintage clothing with her boyfriend (now husband’s) computer website skills, and *poof* ModCloth.com appeared!
Anyways, ModCloth sent a txt to everyone on their text-mailing list giving them a one-hour heads up about the 4th of July grab bag that would appear on the site. For $20 you would get between $90-$150 worth of non-sized stuff. Within minutes of being released, it sold out. I was lucky enough to score one. J So yesterday I sauntered down to the post office and picked up my package and opened it excitedly. There was a burgundy ModCloth tote than contained: two headbands, two necklaces, a pair of earrings, some nonprescription eyeglasses, and a ModCloth sticker.
Headband 1: Beret vs. 1930’s meets sequins.
This black sequin headband is something I would never actually buy, however I’m glad it was in my bag, it’s much cuter than I would have expected and will be key in my inspiration for a Halloween costume this year.
Headband 2: Motorcycling Indians?
This simple black headband was turned wild with a bow made of matching black feathers, and attached to the bow is several strands of black suede in varying lengths each decorated with black feathers and gold studs. I don't know if I'm really a fan of this as is, it's just a little to wild and out there. I'm thinking about cutting off the extra strands, or at the very least shortening them so they're not longer than my hair. I think that would make it look a lot better.
Necklace 1: Dog-Gone-Elegant
I really like this necklace because I am the biggest dog lover everrr and miss my Scooter very much. This is a gold necklace on a delicate chain with a very small (half an inch long) dog bone. Most of my jewelry is silver, but I've tried to start expanding my gold collection. This is a perfect verstile gold necklace that it perfect for my small, delicate features.
Necklace 2: Graduation on a Chain
This is a far more....whimsical necklace than the last. Attached to a very long thick gold link chain is a 8-inch royal blue tassel. Thicker than your typical graduation cap tassel, but the resemblance is uncanny. I'm not sure what I would wear this with, but it certainly will draw some looks.
Earrings: Badass Dreamcatchers
These earrings remind me of a small black dream catcher. 1-inch diamter hoops are updated with black suade and hanging from the bottom are several 2-inch black suade fringe with gold studs, much like the motorcycle headband except no feathers and farrrrr less extreme. I really like these earrings. They scream "badass" without crossing the line into "wtf?"
Eyeglasses: Tropical Geek
I've been wanting to get a new pair of glasses for a while, really big geeky glasses that truly fit my big, nerdy personality. These are a funky spin off of exactly what I wanted. Thick white plastic frames with tropical tree designs on top and a gold stripe in each upper corner. So funky. So funny. How can you not love these frames!?!? (If only I could convince my parents/eyedoctor to replace the plastic lens with perscription!)
Each of these pieces are divine and perfectly ModCloth. They each have their own look and style and are all major conversation starters, suitable for any party a fashionista may attend. And all this for $20. I'd call it a win! :)

Just Fabulous!
A couple months ago via Facebook ads, I discovered JustFabulous.com. This site is a member-only shoe/bag-of-the-month club. How is works is simple. Sign up (you have to give your credit card information up front, which made me uneasy but I figured I’d contest the charges if there were any, but they’re weren’t, no worries) and you take a short survey about what kind of styles and shoes you like, then each month they give you 6 different shoes and 6 different bags that they think you’ll like. You can order as many as you want, each for $39.95 + free shipping or if you don’t like the styles you can request new options. If you still don’t like these, you can opt to “Skip this Month” which lets them know that you won’t be making a purchase. If you decide later on that you do want to buy a pair but you’ve already hit Skip, no worries, you can still buy them. The only catch is that if you forget about the site and don’t buy OR Skip every month for six months, then they’ll charge you $39.95 but credit your account, so really they’re just forcing you to buy shoes. But you CAN skip every month charge-free. This is my third month being on JustFabulous, and I just received my first pair of shoes.
They are the cutest wedges I’ve ever seen. I really wanted a nude wedge like Steve Madden’s Fever
(but sold out everywhere L) and this one is very similar. Securely strapped in, and hosts a cute cut-out design on the front strap with a 5-inch cork-ish heel. Although a little steep, they’re easy to walk in. The thick straps really help make the shoe feel stable. After walking cross-campus several times the balls of my feet were hurting and I now have blisters L but with a little more breaking-in time they should be fine. For $39.95 the shoes were a great buy and I’m glad I joined JustFabulous. Plus, even if I hated the shoes there’s free exchanges (for a different pair of shoes or store credit) or refunds (minus a $5 restock fee), so you really can’t go wrong! The selections can be hit and miss, but it really depends on what you like. I encourage every shoe-crazed fashionista to sign up. J
